Ways to send a fax compared
There is no best option for everyone. This compares the kinds of option, not named competitors.
The four common options
| Pay per fax (FaxTheWeb) | Monthly fax plan | Fax machine and phone line | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Cost shape | $2.99 per U.S. or Canadian fax, $9.99 per supported international fax | A monthly fee, often with a set number of pages included | Equipment plus a phone line, billed whether you fax or not |
| Best when | You send a few faxes a year | You send faxes most weeks | You already own the line and send often |
| Receive faxes | No. Send only | Usually yes, with a number | Yes |
| Account needed | No, for a single fax | Yes | No |
| Stored history | No. A status link and an email | Usually yes | Paper log |
We do not list other companies’ prices here. Plans and rates change, and we have not verified them, so check the current price of any plan you are considering.
Work out which costs less
Divide a plan’s monthly price by the faxes you really send each month. If that number is higher than $2.99, paying per fax costs less. If you send faxes every week, or need a number to receive faxes, a plan or machine is likely a better fit.
